We’re here because of our passion to share something from our hearts with our guests that perhaps they haven’t experienced before.
We create concepts that pay homage to the cultures that we're forever longing for. We operate with an emphasis on simplicity, integrity, and a commitment to contribute to the communities that we are a part of. We have a love for our local neighbourhoods and our visionary team brings together charming, yet elevated experiences that are welcoming and memorable.
Sharing simple indulgences is in our DNA. We bring old-fashioned soul by putting our heart into every detail.
Each restaurant tells a story with intentional designs and purposeful touches that create a dining experience that is unapologetically unique and uncompromisingly defined.
Values
It’s about connection.
The spaces in which we occupy are centered around connection. Not only with the people we serve, but with our colleagues, neighbours, partners and adversaries. We strive to build and foster positive and meaningful relationships with everyone we encounter.
Stay humble.
Our confidence is balanced with a humble nature: focusing on sharing and helping others in our communities. There’s no elitist attitude here: we help first and eat last.
No detail left unconsidered.
Every detail is intentional — no fluff, just the truly important things that make our experiences beloved by guests. This ‘less is more’ approach results in a simple, understated aesthetic that still leaves an indelible impression.
Timeline
2009 – Pourhouse
The first restaurant in the Kitchen Table portfolio, Pourhouse is where it all started. While the only ‘non-Italian’ member of the family, the concept was inspired by our travels in Italy.
2011 – Pizzeria Farina
At a time when Neapolitan pizza was just beginning to capture the hearts and minds of Vancouverites, Pizzeria Farina decided to do things a bit differently. Drawing from fond memories of eating pizza in Italy, we introduced our guests to the way that pizza was interpreted in the north-eastern regions of the country.
2012 – Aprons for Gloves
Early in 2012, the Astoria Boxing Club, an East Vancouver institution, closed its doors for good. When we walked up to the club’s locked doors and saw the faces of the kids that had just lost their place of refuge and sense of family, we knew something had to be done.
2013 – Ask for Luigi
We want every guest to be treated as if you were sent by a close friend. It’s this sentiment that inspired the name for one of Vancouver’s most beloved restaurants: “Ask for Luigi.”
2016 – Joe Pizza
You know the saying, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?” Let’s just say that Joe Pizza didn’t exactly work out as planned.
2017 – Di Beppe
When loosely translated, ‘Di Beppe’, means ‘Joe’s.’ After our lessons learned with Joe Pizza, we wanted to remain humble while paying homage to the short-lived Joe Pizza. – And so a two-part experience was born in the same space: Caffe Di Beppe (Joe’s Coffee) and Di Beppe Ristorante (Joe’s Restaurant).
2019 – Farina a Legna
Our first venture outside the city and into North Vancouver, Farina a Legna was envisioned to be a full service version of the original Pizzeria Farina, in partnership with the Giannakos family.
2020 – Pastificio di Luigi
During the lockdown of COVID-19, it was high time to launch a project we’d had on the back burner for many years. Pastificio di Luigi was meant to be part factory, part grocery and part restaurant. Stay tuned for updates on its permanent home.
2020 – Giovane Caffè
The Giovane concept is inspired by the coffee bars in modern day Italy. In 2004, designer Enzo Mari placed an ad in Domus Magazine with a beautifully written, vulnerable yet decisive letter, seeking collaboration from a young entrepreneur. It was this letter which originally inspired the Giovane name, and what made our collaboration with Westbank feel serendipitous.
2021 – Bacaro
Inspired by the bacari of Venice situated far from the crowds, tucked away on side streets and alongside canals, Bacaro is a modern Italian restaurant that takes influences from the traditional Venetian bacaro (wine bar).
2021 – Caffè Super Veloce
Opened in the lobby of Vancouer’s Shaw Tower, our unique Italian-meets-West Coast experience offers guests an array of high-powered, bottled smoothies, nutritious quick meals, snack foods, and authentic espresso-based beverages.
2021 – Giovane Caffè Toronto
Beloved Vancouver caffè institution takes flight to Toronto with the first Giovane Caffè, located in the lobby of Shangri-La Toronto.
2021 – Carlino
Carlino pays homage to Northern Italy and its similarities to British Columbia — spectacular mountain ranges, forests, lakes, and coastal waters. Our most recent concept celebrates Northern Italian cuisine by way of the bounty of British Columbia.
2022 – Motoretta
Motoretta serves traditional gelato and granita with a modern sensibility, preserving its simplicity while showcasing the best of B.C.’s seasonal ingredients married with exceptional Italian products.
2022 – Giovane Caffè West Georgia
The modern Italian coffee bar concept continues to expand this time opening in the heart of downtown Vancouver at the brand new Deloitte Summit tower.
